East Brother Beer Company was founded by Chris Coomber and Rob Lightner, both Mill Valley Residents with a shared love for classic craft beer and a genuine, hard-working heritage.
In the fall of 2016, East Brother Beer Company started brewing in our 12,000-square-foot production facility. Located in Richmond, California, known as “the city of Pride and Purpose.” The city’s industrious spirit serves as a wellspring of inspiration for the classic American character that lies at the heart of East Brother Beer Company.
While some breweries constantly experiment with different beer styles and recipes, we take a different approach. We focus on perfecting the tried-and-true recipes of classic beer styles. However, that doesn’t mean we shy away from innovation.
Our commitment to improvement lies in experimenting with process rather than style. We believe in the philosophy of “Don’t improve one thing 100%, improve 100 things 1%.” We meticulously fine-tune every step of our process, from water chemistry to temperature control, carbonation, and optimizing fermentation techniques. Through these small but impactful adjustments, we consistently enhance the quality and flavor of our beers, ensuring that each batch maintains the same exceptional standards our customers have come to expect.
